The chimney of the fireplace needs frequent care and regular cleaning, because:

Every time you light the fireplace, the smoke from the wood comes in contact with the walls in its canopy and in the chimney, and creates deposits, which:

1. Theyreduce the cross section of the chimney and prevent the free flow of smoke. So the fireplace starts not to pull as before, to smell and sometimes to smoke.
